Hi, I recently got accepted to Mercer for Fall 2008 and I would like to know if any of the current Mercer students can explain to me what a typical day is like as a first year nursing student from the time you arrive in class until the time you leave and exactly what makes the nursing program so difficult. Also what was your studying schedule like? I hear tons of stories, but I would actually like to hear from someone who has already experienced it.

Hey, I currently attend Mercer...gonna be a junior in the fall. a typical day depends on how many classes you have...you should have 2 nursing classes NUR 216 and NUR 215. If you haven't taken Micro yet, you'll have that too. I onlt had to take the nursing classes. I think 216 is on mon and thur. mornings and 215 is on mon. afternoon. 216 is not hard (well it wasn't for me) but you do have to put in effort to get an A. You'll have a 6 hour clinical day and a 4 hour skills lab day. those are your most relaxed days except for getting up early for clinicals. 215 is a breeze. Try to study between classes on mon. as much as possible, and after class on thurs. I liked to keep my days off for myself....so if you get your studying out of the way after class, you'll almost always have free weekends.

welcome to GBCN!! I am a senior-graduating this fall. Make sure you do the readings, along with the notes...and find a good study group! My grades improved after studying with a group, but everyone is different. Just keep up with your work & studies, and you will be fine. You may hear that every semester gets progressively harder...that is kinda true but you will be prepared every step of the way.
GOOD LUCK!
