Curious about background clearance

Published

Hello. I was wondering how long does it take to have background/security clearance. I know when I did my fingerprint, the CA BON wanted state and FBI clearance or something like that. I paid extra for the FBI. I turned in my fingerprint mid january of this year and I took my test last week. I was wondering if that can delay my results. No results for about 9 days now. I still have not seen my name on the website. :crying2: I am truly giving up now and I guess I'm just finding excuses why my name is not posted. I guess I just have to expect the worst and move on. Thank you

:urgycld:Don't panic ...Background checks can take several days, especially if you've lived in multiple states/locations, or have been married/divorced/remarried & your last name has changed from one name to another (since they have to check out each last name)

Another thing that can contribute to delays is whether or not you're a citizen of the US, or are here on a VISA.

You don't mention any of those variables, so I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Again don't freak out over it...your paperwork may just be sitting on someone's desk in their "to-do" pile of paperwork. :typing

I'm a US citizen (live in Cali). Never been married or any change of name. So my clearance shouldn't take that long. I did the fingerscan in mid january and the state has all my paper works. I took my test March 3rd and still no results. Today marks the 10th day including the weekends. I've been checking the mail for the reject letter. I don't want anyone else to see that envelope besides me. Thank you for the information.

Do you have reason to believe that you would fail the clearance?? If not, relax, it still a government run check & we all know that government time & reality are two different things.
