CUNY Nursing Pre-requisites

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello. I recently graduated from a 4-year CUNY school and I am currently going into nursing. However, I am missing a few of the general pre-requisites - A&P 2 and Microbiology - and I would like to know if there is a way where I can take these two classes at any CUNY Community Colleges. I took A&P 1 at Queensborough but, being that I am not in school anymore and can't apply as a visiting student, how can I register for just A&P 2 and Microbiology?

Thank you!

@Jashcool
I am taking A+P I and II at CUNY Laguardia Community College. They require you take sequential courses with them, and would not allow you to transfer in A+P I from Queensborough.

Why don't you just submit a non-degree application to Queensborough and take A+P II (and Microbio) there? http://www.qcc.cuny.edu/admissions/hta-non-degree.html

Here are some online alternatives for Microbiology + Lab (might be better if you don't have all the bio prerequisites to take an in person class at a CUNY, or you can try to get departmental approval to exempt you from the prereqs) - just make sure the programs you're applying to will accept them before you sign up.

@Jashcool I would also say since you have your Bachelors in a diff. degree, might be worth looking into the Accelerated 2nd degree to get your BS in Nursing as opposed to doing the RN. Not sure of the specifics since I am doing the RN then RN-BSN pathway but I've read that they do offer the accelerated ones for people that already have a baccalaureate.
