Hi Everyone! I am new to the site and I have a couple questions regarding the Nursing program at Cumberland County College (in NJ of course!).
1) How difficult is the entry process? Or maybe the question is how competitive? I've been reading about schools where even having a 90 overall and a 3.8 GPA will "put you in an alternate line". I know something like this can be subjective to the number of students applying but... I thought I would ask.
This past semester of Pre-Req's I ended with a 3.89 and I am super happy with that. I will need a 70% on the TEAS (60 is lowest for consideration), with a minimal 60 (or B) in Math and English or a B in a College Math/English. I've got the English, I took that the semester before and received an A. I'm really not too worried about the TEAS test either. I'm planning to study, I've ordered the main study guide, I took both Bio I and Bio II this past semester. The Math... I am not the greatest at but I plan to study. My Goal for the TEAS is a minimal of 85 overall with no less than a 75 in any subject. All that said.. I guess I am just feeling a bit..anxious.
Can anyone else who has gotten in over the last couple years at CCC share what their score or "stats" where on entering?
2) The Criminal Background.
I don't think I have one. I have never been arrested. But I do have "court stuff" on my "record". For example; I had two restraining orders (I was the petitioner), an old friend of mine took me to "small claims" for $70 because I lost.. I can't even remember, I think it was a curling iron. I have another "small claims" because I bounced a check. I've also gotten one speeding ticket (just a speeding ticket, no charges, no court, I paid the fee and it was done). Now, all this occurred 15+ years ago, in the state where I grew up (not NJ). I was 18/19 at the time.
I was feeling fairly confident on "not" having a criminal record until I read another post on here about a girl who was kicked out of NS because of a speeding ticket? Okay, she also had a reckless endangerment charge which actually might have been the deciding factor as well as how ever long it had been since the incident.
But, now I am concerned on my own "history". Does this seem like something I should be concerned about here in NJ?
Thank you for anyone that can chime in!

Hey there,I am a student at CCC and I'm currently in my final semester of CCCs Nursing Program. My TEAS scores were not amazing. I've been out of high school for some time now though and it seemed to be mostly things that you'd learn in high school. I bought the study book and it was helpful. You should not have a problem getting in with your gpa.Have you taken A&P yet? It looks good if you have more pre reqs done. So hopefully you have most, if not all done. The background thing doesn't seem like it will pose a problem. Good luck to you!! If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask!
