CSUSM Accelerated BSN...

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi! :lol2:

I'm from the S.F. Bay Area...and willing to relocate to another city for nursing school...

I'm applying to Cal State San Marcos accelerated BSN program sometime this year or next year...wondering if anyone out there applying to the same program? Also if you're already in the program...wondering what the schedule and program is like....I'm attending the information session on March 18..so hopefully I'll get all of my questions answered too...Plus I am also a medical assistant looking for work..and wondering if it would be a good idea to work part-time while in the program....What do you think? It would be nice to hear from any of you who are in the same boat as I am ;)

Thanks! ;)

Going from SF to Temecula is going to be a huge change. Temecula is super vanilla. I looked into their ABSN program (they also have a video explaining the application process, you've probably seen it) and I spoke with a friend that goes there I just figured the school's prereqs were weird and the program is waaaay too long for an ABSN track.

I live in Temecula and love it here. I also attended the Mar 18 info session. The previous responded talked about the program being too long to be considered accelerated? I was originally going to apply for the Concordia Irvine cohort but found out their 1 year program includes an additional semester of pre classes. That makes it 17 months. Most other programs I have researched come in around the 18 month range. I want to get out into the workforce as soon as possible but 7 months isn't going to make or break whether or not I go to school somewhere. Besides if you are willing to relocate then just get into a school wherever and go there. Just an opinion.

You could work a lot the first semester. so far it is only three days a week. 2nd semester is also 3 days but much longer hours as we jump from 9 units to 14 or something.
