Hello fellow pre-nursing students. If, like me, you were hoping to enter Sac State's BSN program beginning Spring 2010, we are going to have to switch to Plan B. New students will not be admitted for Spring 2010 (although it seems continuing students are not affected). I think the same is true for all CSU nursing programs. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought you all would want to know. Here is the email I received from Sac State today:
IMPORTANT Information for Traditional-Track, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Candidates
University Admission Closed Spring 2010. Due to the state budget crisis, the CSU-system colleges will not be admitting any new students for the spring 2010 term. Only active, continuing Sac State students will be considered for admission to the spring 2010 clinical nursing program. Please refer to the California State University , Public Affairs website for the plans to address the massive budget deficit, http://www.calstate.edu/PA/News/2009/spring-admissions.shtml.
Veterans. Due to increased impaction, veterans will be given equal consideration in the selection process with continuing Sacramento State , transfer students, and second baccalaureate degree applicants. If there is a tie between two candidates, and one is a veteran honorably discharged from active duty within a four-year period preceding application to the clinical nursing program, the veteran will receive preference. Veterans requesting preference are required to submit DD214 Form with Supplemental Nursing Application. (Approved April 20, 2008.)
Supplemental Nursing Application Fee. Effective immediately, candidates applying to the clinical nursing program will be required to pay a $35 application fee. Payment instructions will be included with Supplemental Nursing Application. Please see Clinical Nursing Application Timeline document for application deadlines, http://www.hhs.csus.edu/NRS/Advising/GenericAdvising/fall2006/.

I'm sure you did ask, but I the only way to be sure is to double check, like you said. I'm in NorCal, so I won't be even trying for CSUB. My plan is Samuel Merritt, maybe PA school, or the last option would be to try to get into one of our local community college ADN programs. Good luck to all you folks trying for CSUB (as well as other CSUs for that matter)!
I'm from Nor Cal too but I'm pretty flexible with where I'm going to nursing school, even out-of-state schools. I'm not going to wait anymore. SMC is pretty expensive but worth it. I don't know if I'll also be applying there too. the closest school from there that I am applying to is San Francisco State, which is my 2nd choice from CSUB and Frenso state 3rd.
I just read that Chico state will be accepting new transfer students from the North State ONLY. . Im in Shasta County, so i dunno if other counties can .. .
