Hi everyone,
CSUN's application is now open for Fall 2020 ABSN admissions. I just wanted to create a thread for comments, questions, information, and more!
Best of luck to everyone ?
Hey everyone! I created a facebook group for the cohort but is not letting me post the link here for some reason! If you search CSUN ABSN Fall 2020 Cohort it should come up on facebook! If not feel free to add me as a friend on facebook and just message me and I can add you into the group so we can all communicate! My name on facebook is Edelis Diaz Machado and I have my dog and me as a cover pic !

this was the only school I applied to so far - so it sucks that we have to SIR by June 12
If your academics are competitive enough, your prereqs are still good, and if FNP is your ultimate goal, you should just aim for a straight shot via the ELMSN FNP program.
If youre not so sure, wanted to choose a more conservative approach, worried about cost, or not as academically stacked then choose this program because you're already in. Like you mentioned above, you haven't applied to SM's program yet! Just something to consider.

I know it's not a direct entry FNP, but I did get into WesternU's MSNE as well as here. I agonized over what to choose but I am ultimately going with CSUN. I also know I want to be an FNP but for me, this made more sense. I can see the appeal of a Master's though. I had been gunning for the entry level MSN for the past 8 years and am now having to withdraw my acceptance. It's hard all around! Let me know if you want to talk at all about it!

I'm definitely worried about the cost but I know my end goal is NP. There's always a chance that I would not be as competitive as other applicants so I'm worried if I should risk it all or play it safe haha.

WesternU's ELMSN from what I know if for Clinical Nurse Leader (hence the 2 years not 3) but Samuel Merritt's is for ELMSN FNP which does allow you to practice as a NP after graduation. But I'm worried because it does cost $180k to attend while CSUN is only $45k. The appeal is very strong haha. But I know my end goal is NP and I could technically do BSN-DNP programs which are just as good! But I'm just feeling swayed because it does allow me to practice as a NP after graduation but I'm also concerned about finding a job after graduation. I know a BSN has a way higher chance of finding a job in the level you want compared to Entry MSN because they might hire you as a BSN.
