Anyone who apply for CSULB Nursing Spring 2014?
Embrassing to say, but my score wasn't the best, it is about 8.73, but i have been looking at the pool statistic at previous years if i get lucky enough, i should be in the last spot of getting admitted (hoping for the best), i don't really wants to give-up just yet and hoping for the best right now
Toomuchcoffee, from what i heard from previous ppl, i think they do get some extra ppl who are alternative in the interview as a cushion encase ppl drop because they can't do the trisemester program, but as of now i think 9.06 is pretty gurantee since out of 4 years of pool statistics, there are always 8.xx ppl get in except last semester, as long there isn't another budget shortage and they cut down the number of admitted :/
@nrsing2014 - Damn nrsing2014, sadly that is on the low spectrum for CSULB nursing program, even for spring admittance. I don't know if it's because of an in progress course or just because of your grades? Either way keep your head up (hard to do I know) and look into ways to bump your score for the next round if at all possible.
I want to say 9.06 is a guarantee as well looking at past admission point ranges, but I have to wonder if they for sure save an allotted # of enrollment slots for CSULB students regardless of transfers having higher points. For example say 60 slots can be filled by transfers and 30 by CSULB students (transfers usually have better scores overall), thus the range is not the ranges of transfers admitted, but takes into account the CSULB students who don't score as well as transfers. Thus the cutoff is actually higher than what is being posted for transfer students. I know that seems really shady and not right but I came across a post talking about this from like...Fall 2011 admits. I dunno, I mean I got an interview so of course I'm going to go...I just hate wasting my time (I have to drive from Sac).
Did you get an interview invite nrsing2014?
And yes that's the # I called. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't.
Toomuchcoffee, i assume you are a transfer student, as far as i know, csulb will accept at least 72 students for this coming semester (might increase to 80+ if the budget for the semester is in good condition, you never know), and csulb student usually take 50% of the spot, it varys depends on the budget. i heard rumors saying that the lesser the budget csulb gets, the lesser the transfer student get admitted (that's what happened 2010). But you are right about the cutoff for transfer students tend to be higher.
As of now, i haven't receive an email yet, but i will call them early tomorrow to figure out, my score is low, but there was reason behind it that i don't really like to mention, so lets leave it at that
oh btw, i'm not a transfer, so there goes a little chance of me getting in
See that's what I'm trying to find out. Do you know if that 50% is CSULB students because they guarantee that 50% of the students admitted to the program will be CSULB undergrads and the remaining slots are for transfers to duke it out amongst themselves?
That's why I say the ranges they post really aren't accurate if that's the case (thus why I worry my score may not be suffice and I'm being called in as an extra alternative) and they should post the overall score ranges for CSULB undergrads and transfer students separately.
- and yea I am a transfer student :)
I was doubtful that I would get an email. I am a post baccalaureate transfer. I was informed that they don't favor students from csulb. They base it only on scores. Maybe that is why the cutoff has been so high in recent semesters. They change it up all the time, the way they cutoff the scores

So I called them today and spoked to ***** and find out my score was too low to get into the program, so i guess the best way for me to do now is get a rn from community college than transfer back, but they told me my score was actually 8.72 (instead of 8.73) and i'm standing on 118th, and they only accept 70 student this semester.
Good luck everyone
Congrats to everyone that received an email for the interview !!!! I can't wait to meet the people that I could possibly spend 2+ years with in the program.
Do you think they will tell me where I stand if I call on Monday? I want to know where they ranked me so I can breathe a little. My points weren't high or low (9.2) and I am a post baccalaureate applicant. I wonder if that matters in the selections. I'm reading all these posts about how they limit the amount of transfer students and I'm wondering if there is any truth to that. I think I am going to call tomorrow and ask them about that as well, just to clear it up. I hope they aren't too annoyed with me asking questions, but I think we should all know if they truly rank everyone and pick the top candidates. If not, that definitely will affect me and many others as far as being accepted now, or in the future. Just in case, I am applying to CSUN (nov 31) and UCLA MECN programs (nov 1), although CSULB is my #1 choice. Also, I am pretty sure they don't have many accepted students that decline admissions, because there aren't many 4-yr schools with Spring admissions.

Just a heads up I started the other thread (a mod butchered it to death cause I accidentally violated a few TOS rules lol) and yes I have a 9.06 and also received the email inviting me for an interview.
So in terms of the interview, does anyone know if they actually interview a few past the 90 they plan to enroll as a sort of buffer in case others decide to drop? I only ask because yes I have a 9.06 which while I feel good about (especially for having my A&P2 in progress being taken as a C) I still feel uneasy in terms of where the cutoff lies. All of my own research points to older threads of people postulating that they interview a few extra from the top of the alternative list...I don't know if this is true, I certainly hope not!
This interview does not concern me in terms of being admitted; I just need to know if an interview means you made it within the cutoff range for admission and now they just need to make sure you're socially adept. Anyone who would somehow know and could shed light on the fact would be much appreciated.
Oh and lets get one thing straight, I'm a DUDE!!!....so be on the lookout for a tall, handsome, funny guy at the interview....especially you single ladies :)
