CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

As of right now, it's still a proposal. But honestly, not to sound callous, but rather realistic, this will most likely based on past budget cuts. At CSULB for Fall, all students are limited to a maximum of 13 units as opposed to the normal 16 unit cap. It's probably a sign of the worst that is to come.

I honestly thought the budget had FINALLY stabilized. I guess not. :banghead:

13 units?! What?! The nursing curriculum states that we take 15-16 units per semester. How does that work? Will nursing students get the cap lifted since it's a "special" time-sensitive program or do you think they are just going to expect us to figure it out? I can see basic students being able to take no more than 13 units if they take classes during the summer, but what are trimester students supposed to do?? This is insane

For the nursing program I think to adjust to the budget cuts they just accept less applicants. Don't think that the 13 unit cap applies to nursing students cause then the program would be longer than 6 semesters.

It's a 13 unit maximum during your registration, but you can add classes and have up to 16 units maximum (previously 18) once everyone has finished registering for classes.

Thanks for clearing that up Clueless :) its not that big of a deal since nursing students are guaranteed their classes anyway. It just might affect getting into GE's or capstones, but you can always sign up for those within the 13 units and then sign up for a nursing class after the cap is lifted.

Thanks Nic for the info.

My sociology professor mentioned the budget cuts yesterday during lecture. She said that people who have an associates degree will be exempt from the spring 2013 transfer restriction. Is this correct? If so, I'm pretty sure most of us have enough units to get an AA degree, so it may not affect most of us. Well except that the number of students admitted into the program will probably be reduced (BIG SURPRISE!)

Looks like it's probably going to be an ADN for me...Which wouldn't worry me so much except that LBCC nursing has a ****** way of accepting students. Whereas CSULB takes the top students period. LBCC takes some of the top students, some of the middle students, and some of the low students. Which is totally lame if you're one of the top students, and they decide to take a lower scoring student over you.

Hey all,

Does anyone know about the RN-BSN program? I applied the same time and still have not heard back from anyone =/ my hopes are starting to be crushed seeing that the entry level BSN's got interviews :( It's my dream to go to this school, esp since I did get in here 2 years ago but got called back to my community college for their nursing program (I got into CSULB for health sciences).

Everyone who either got in or is on the waitlist got interviews, so since you haven't heard from them at all I think it's safe to say that you're not being offered admission.

The cutoff score for the interviews was right around 9.09, so if you know your score out of ten you can compare.

And I'm kind of in the same boat, i got into csulb out of high school but decided not to go, now i'm facing possibly not even getting a bachelors.

@Lkirky-Before you get your box of tissue is double check that just to be sure. Not exactly sure if the LVN/RN-BSN works the same way as the enteric students. I haven't seen ANY on this forum post beside general students (maybe somehow I missed it) and if you look on the website the LVN-BSN application process is very different them the generic. I assume the same may be true for the RN-BSN as well. So just double check with someone at the school to verify the admission process for the program you're interested in. Good Luck

Just emailed them now. Hopefully they're just taking longer with RN-BSN. It also mentions a group counseling session for RN's but that meeting was when I was doing clinicals. Dag nabbit!!!! Anyways, thanks for the little light of hope :) Good thing I have back up.

I just wanted to wish you all a great spring break. I hope it's a relaxing one for all of you.
