CSULA Transfer BSN Fall 2023

Updated:   Published

CSULA website says you must complete all prereqs by Dec. 31st (EXCEPT Microbiology).  I emailed the school of nursing and confirmed that there is no advantage to having Microbiology complete by December 31, so it's okay that I'm taking it in the Spring (but I'm still skeptical).

We can only apply once, ever.

Is anyone else applying with Micro in progress?

Hi Clo,

I am also applying for fall 2023. I am taking Micro this fall, will be done in December. I am not sure about Micro but try contacting nursing admissions to make sure one core science class missing is OK for admission decision.
It also freaks me out that we only get one chance to apply.

Good luck to us all !

I’m in the same boat, currently taking Micro and will be done by December. Taking my TEAS a couple weeks after the semester ends and hoping I get a high enough score to be a competitive applicant! Grades and TEAS have to do it for me since I unfortunately don’t have any work/volunteer experience in the medical field. Fingers crossed for us all!

Is anyone else using their TEAS 6 scores to apply for the program? It’s been about a year since I took it and I am planning to take TEAS 7 on the first week of December, but I don’t feel as confident as with my first exam.

I have no volunteer experience either. I am betting on the GPA and the TEAS score. I took TEAS 7 but not too confident with the first results so I might take it in December again as well.

Where did you guys upload your volunteer hours under? Shadowing/Health Experience or Certification?

When you guys were calculating your prerequisites, did you guys add the other 4 (ex. physio, micro)?

you can select "in progress" or "planned"

Hey all,

Did anyone else get an email being invited to apply to the Honors College? Wondering if I should even bother with the process before finding out if I get into the BSN program.

Also does anyone know what the timeline is we are looking at since the supplemental application has closed?

I also got the email invitation for the honors college. I'm wondering the same thing. I'm even wondering if it even benefits BSN students to be in the honors college? At my CC it wasn't recommended to take honors courses because it didn't help in any way to get into nursing programs and it was better to focus on higher GPA in regular courses. I took one honors class (Statistics) and got a B in it. All my other classes have been As. I wish I hadn't taken Stats as honors, I would have gotten an A.

I would also like to know when we might hear back.

I found out from an Honors College representative at CSULA that you must apply for Honors at the time of applying to the university. You can't wait until after you learn if you've been accepted into the BSN program.

Has anyone heard anything?
