CSU Stanislaus ASBSN Spring 2020

Published

Hello. I did not see a thread for the ASBSN program at CSU Stanislaus for Spring 2020 yet, so I decided to create one! Let's discuss!

Specializes in Women's Health/Neonatal.

Hi all!
I migrated here from the 2021 thread. We just heard back today (yay!) and I have a bunch of questions. Anyone from your year willing to entertain some questions?
-how has the online/hybrid learning been? Have you been able to practice the skills you need to?
-how many days are you typically on campus? Is anyone commuting from a significant distance?
-overall, how would you rate the quality of the teaching and support from the administration?

Hey there! First of all, congratulations! ?

So, the hybrid learning was an adjustment. I do not want to say we have not been able to practice the skills we need to, as we have been in the hospital for clinical rotations and have been provided the opportunity to learn as much as we can given the circumstances, but again, it has been an adjustment with not being on campus and in the skills lab to work with other students, have discussions, and utilize supplemental hands on training.

We currently are not on campus whatsoever, as the chancellor of state schools is not allowing in person instruction. Our first session we were on campus 4 days a week. Session 2 was supposed to be another 4 day week, including the clinical rotation, but we got placed on zoom at that point. There were some people commuting from a distance and making it work! A couple of the people that were father distances away found some rooms to rent, but then eventually moved back home once in person instruction was not happening and I believe are currently commuting in for their once a week clinical.

Given the circumstances of the pandemic, I believe the staff and administration have done their absolute best to keep our cohort moving forward, so I would say we are supported!
