CSU Pueblo - Accelerated BSN Summer 2014

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello everyone! I'm wondering if anyone else out there is planning to apply/has submitted their application for CSU Pueblo's accelerated BSN program starting in summer 2014. The deadline is October 1st, so I have to get my final nursing portion of the application together. I look forward to hearing from everyone! If you are applying, what has your nursing school journey been like so far?

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated! Surprise tests are my least favorite thing, but luckily I was already planning to review patho this semester. Any other tips you think of would be more than welcome!

@kristincos has a Facebook page been made?

smsoftballgirl: I've been reading through posts about the programs in Colorado because I am hoping to move out to Colorado after I graduate from my school in May (in Minnesota). I sent in all of my application materials for CSU and hopefully I will get in!!!! I was wondering if you could comment on a few things about the program: class/cohort size, what you like/dislike about the program, course load, how helpful the professors are, and any other advice for accelerated nursing-seeking student. Thanks!

Hi funnyjustineee, I'm in the accelerated program currently. I believe the cohort size is capped at 40, which seems to work well. The course load is definitely tough. You will work your butt off. There were weeks this semester where I had three clinical days and two days of lecture, and still had to find time outside of that to do a boatload of reading and complete assignments. We have some professors who are really helpful and some who are less helpful, but that's probably typical for any program. We do have some terrific clinical instructors.

In terms of general advice...one thing I did not realize going in is that this is not a warm and fuzzy program. You have to follow rules and do what you're supposed to do. There is little room for making exceptions to policies or bending rules for individual situations. You really have to do what you're told and be really on the ball. Don't be a complainer or get put on probation. My best advice is to keep your head down, follow rules, and perform well. The good news is, it's only fifteen months. :-)

Congrats to all of you that got accepted to the 2014 cohort and those that are already in the program, keep it up! On the other hand, I've been set on the stand-by list (alternative). I was wondering if anyone knew what are the odds of me getting accepted to the program? Should I call back every now and then to see if there's a open spot?

Hi deekayy,

curious if you got into the program after all? I just found out im on the stand by list also....any information would be helpful!

thank you!
