CSU Long Beach nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi. I am a Senior in high school. I got accepted into CSU Long Beach under the major of Nursing:Basic BS. What does that mean? Do I have to apply to the School of Nursing too?

Sorry if I seem a bit ignorant. I'm still in high school and all this stuff is new to me. Thank you.

Actually its the Pre-Nursing Major. Would I have a better chance of getting accepted into the Nursing School? and what would I be doing under the Pre-Nursing Major?

You can't apply to the school of nursing until all of your pre-reqs are completed, so figure at least 2 years. That is why your admitted under the major of "Pre-Nursing". Hope this helps!

Also, you may get a lot more help under the California Nursing Programs section:

Also, you may want to look into attending your local community/junior college for completely your pre-reqs. It's MUCH cheaper and once you finish, you can apply and then transfer to a university for a nursing program. It'll save you a ton of money. Some nursing programs do give points for attending the university before the nursing program, but it is a small amount. You will get more points for being bilingual or having volunteer/work experience in a hospital. Just check the nursing website for details.
