CSU Chico Fall 2017

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

If I'm not mistaken there has not been a thread started for CSU Chico's Fall 2017 program, so I thought I would start one. I would love to connect with others who are also applying!

Hi, Sorry to bother you, if you have some time can you answer something for me? I applied to Chico for Spring, 2018 and will hopefully get in. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about your experience in Chico? Most importantly I was wondering if it was okay to not have car during first semester? I can't drive yet and even if I could I don't have funds for car. I saw on the school website something about submitting proof of auto insurance by Jan 2 and I was wondering if they would deny me If I don't have car? How far are the clinical sites from school?

Specializes in ICU + 25 years as Nursing Faculty.

35 years ago... My life in CHICO was wonderful. It is a great community. My schooling at CSC CHICO was great too. It set me up for a great start for my career.

I suspect that things have not changed with regard to vehicles and the nursing program at CSU CHICO. My clinical sites varied from being a 10 minute bike ride from my apartment... To a long hour drive on the highway. We were "required" to have a vehicle to attend the nursing program. I was able to sneak through the program without a car by using my bike, hitching rides with classmates, and borrowing my gf's car occasionally. It was a gamble that I could work it out every semester!

However, I would not suggest that anyone else should try to do that!

Hello Thank you for answering! From what I've been hearing I look forward to living in Chico. I currently live in LA which I find okay but I was originally from small town so I really would prefer living in smaller city like Chico. As for vehicle requirement, I'm just hoping they would let me get away with not having vehicle for the first semester only. I should be able to get vehicle by second semester for sure. In any case for now I'm just going to try and get at least driving license ASAP.
