So I'll get the ball rolling. I currently live about 2 hours from Chico, I will be commuting for school but staying with a friend in Chico on days when I have really early or late clinicals or classes. I am finishing up my last 2 pre-reqs this semester so I am applying without the full amount of points that I would be eligible for since I only got a B on one that is complete. If I do not get in for the Fall '17 semester I will retake my TEAS in hopes of getting >90%, take my CNA licensing exam this summer, and have my pre-reqs all complete which will raise my overall GPA and my scores for that points section. With these changes I am somewhat confident I will get in Spring of '18 since it is usually less competitive, but it can't hurt to apply this semester and maybe they will pull a lot off of the alternate list.
Here's my stats:
TEAS score: 88
GPA: 3.7
Science GPA: 3.58
All co-reqs complete
Right now I believe I am at 85.5 points and I think I can pull that up to 91 by Spring '18 applications.
I have a quick question that I'm hoping someone can shed light on! I sent my transcripts beginning of February and I am scared that they won't get to nursingcas by the end of February and they certainly won't be verified until march. Does Chico want everything verified by march 1st or does nursingcas just need to receive it by then?

Both my wife and I graduated from the BSN program at California State University, Chico before we married. She was admitted in Fall and I was admitted in the next Spring. She has said for years that she wished that she was in my cohort, because we were "more fun". Her group was full of unblemished "straight arrows". My group was more a bunch of "broken toys". She is right... we were much more fun!
Hi, I just applied as well. Im in the exact same position as you Mama&midwife2b. I have 85.5 points for this semester. But if i dont get in this semester I will get in next semester with more points because i will complete my last pre-requisite, statistics hopefully with an A, and do the CNA or EMT program this summer for an additional point! Good luck I hope we get in!!!
Stats:
Teas:86 but i may take again!
GPA:3.4
science: 4.0
All co-reques complete
Fluent in spanish + 2years college
I applied for next semester as well. I already got into CSULB, so I will be choosing between the two schools.
I have finished all my prereqs, got above a 90 on my TEAS, took three years of high school Spanish, got the point for volunteering, and got all the points for grades. According to the website, I have 94 points. Good Luck everyone!
Interesting choice between California State University, Chico and CSU Long Beach.
I grew up in Long Beach and graduated from CSU Chico with my BSN.
If choosing for quality of life.... I would absolutely choose Chico. It is a college town surrounded by farm land. It is a nice "laid back" community. I never had a car during nursing school. I simply rode my bike to all the clinicals that were in town, and relied on the kindness of my classmates for the sites in other communities. For communitiy health...I was able to borrow a car from my girlfriend.
If choosing for best clinical opportunities, I would choose Long Beach. Lots of excellent clinical opportunities are nearby.... but the urban environment is not to my liking.
Good Luck!

If I'm not mistaken there has not been a thread started for California State University, Chico's Fall 2017 program, so I thought I would start one. I would love to connect with others who are also applying!
