CSU Bakersfield Fall 2013 Hopefuls?

I am applying for entrance to CSUB this fall. Anyone else out there?

Hi! Just finishing up my first year, I would have to say it's very chaotic and challenging. It gets pretty tough. I have heard it gets better the second year, as far as the chaos goes. My advice is to be very flexible and ready for anything at anytime. As a nurse you pretty much need to be that way, anyhow. If you are used to getting really good grades, at times you will find that all you desperately want is that 73%! Nursing exams are really hard, and clinical days can be grueling. From talking to others and reading, I think all of this is pretty true anywhere you go for nursing school. Just prepare for a ride, and hang in there!

Are the tests based off of the books? Is everyone competetive with each other still?

The tests are based on everything! Haha...That's a hard question to answer. The information is in the books, but nursing tests are just really different from anything else. A lot of times more than one or all answers are correct, but you have to pick the most correct one. You have to use your judgment, and it's hard to get that from a book. Does that make sense? In my class, no one is competitive. We help each other out a lot. We do group assignments all the time. For the most part, these are the only people who really understand what you are going through.

@Melanie_661 I don't know if you still visit this page, hoping you do. But I saw that you got in after being #77 on the ranking list. Unfortunately they didn't send out rankings for applicants who are waiting for the Fall 2014, do you mind sharing what your points were either by PM or on here? I am just so nervous, I have A's in most everything but a C in anatomy that's worrying me and I got an 82 on my TEAS. My points are 58 out of the possible 90. Please let me know if you don't mind, I would greatly appreciate it! And i hope all is well in the program!! :D

I have been on vacation nearly all summer. I just saw this. I don't really remember what my points were. I'm assuming you have an answer by this point in time. You probably got in because your grades and TEAS score are both really good. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I actually did get in. But you know, I was freaking out at first because of that one C. Thanks for the reply anyway :) I hope school is going well for you!! If you don't mind one more question... do you use one big backpack for classes or do you have one for class and one for clinicals? Thanks again for the reply :D

I use one backpack, but I am considering a separate clinical bag this year. :)
