CSN Day Classes vs. Evening Classes

in the application package they listed crime stats for CSN property/students or something and there was like almost none. everyone i speak with says it's very difficult to work while in the program. i wanted to maybe work some part time but i'm going to wait and see. i already got accepted for day division though. someone at CSN said that i may have a chance to switch divisions before i start but i still dont know what kind of schedule the evening division involves. maybe you could try just working early mornings or something...? i had the same dilemma.

In the evenings, the parking in the Charity garage is on a first come, first serve basis, so you would want to get there early. As far as working, I would recommend against it. With being from Thibodaux, the drive is very exhausting (trust me I know) and you will need the rest of your free time for studying.

thank ya'll for the responses. i am fortunate enough to have a pretty laid back job. i am a secretary at an architectural firm and i would have a lot of time during the day to study. and i saw the crime stats for csn. i am pretty impressed and not nearly as nervous. :) i read somewhere that classes start at 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. that would have me getting home at about 10:00. i think i can handle that. i have no choice. thanks again.

:idea: oh does anyone know if you can choose your own schedule or is it like a set schedule? i would like to (if i can) take like 1 class per semester.

I'm in the day division right now, but my friend is in the evening division so I will try to answer your questions. You can't choose your own schedule. First semester you take nurs 112 ( basics in nursing) and nurs 115 ( pharmacology). If you drop one then you have to drop the other. Classes for the evening division are usually 4 days a wk. You go 3 times a week for class from 5 to 9 pm and 1 day a week for clinical until midterm. Your clinical day is either Tues or Wed and the time is from 3:30 to 9:45. After midterm, you will go to clinical on Tues and Wed, but only every other week. Also, on some mondays you will have to go in the day to take exams from 12 to 1:15. Hope this helps.

:) Thank You Savanna for your response. So basically, in the info packet they have a sheet called Curriculum Pattern: Spring Admission and it gives you a schedule. That is basically the classes and the semesters that you are taking the classes? So even though I have all my Pre-reqs done, It will still take me 4 semesters to complete the Nursing Program. I understand. Thank you for clearing that up.

I went Tuesday and picked up an application, but the Evening Division app was only one-sided. I called Admissions and they said it was supposed to be two-sided, so I am waiting for my transcripts and I will go ride and deliver it all at one time. I can't wait!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: I'm so excited. I already did my paragraph and have my PAX scores in an envelope ready to be delivered.

So how is Nursing school. Is it really tough, or basically if you really put you mind to it, it isn't that difficult??? TTYL

I already have the info for the first test, which is in a little over a week. Its alot of info, but doesnt' seem impossible as long as you put your mind to it and buckle down to study. But, maybe the tests are tricky. I'm not sure. I guess I'll know more after I take the first test. But I think that anything's possible if you just put your mind to it and are willing to work at it. I have been studying a little each night and have friends who havent' even picked up a book yet. So maybe thats why so many people fail. Good luck!

Very True:icon_hug: Thanks for the help. I have no doubt that a bunch of people don't take it seriously enough and that that's why some of them fail. I know I will study as much as it takes to get through it (If I get in LOL) Did you start this spring or last fall??? What was your PAX Score if you don't mind me asking??? J/C I made a 115. :uhoh3: I know that isn't GREAT but hopefully it's good enough. Keeping my Fingers crossed. How are the teachers and how big are the classes???

I made a 141 on the pax. But as long as you get a 100 then you'll get in. My friend made a 100 and it still only took her a yr to get in. I started this semester. So far so good! As long as you apply yourself you'll do fine!
