So many times I whined about not getting hired as a new grad...and nobody would give me a chance. I went from one crappy job(not in nursing) to having 3 at once 1 in nursing home 1 doing flu clinics and the same old crappy one. My days were so thrown off it wasn't funny. Ex: A Friday/Sunday work weekend would go like this: Friday 3p-8p get off pick the kids up 930p drop them off then off to work 10p-630a(Saturday morning) depending on where I was doing the flu clinic at I would A.) make it home by 7 take a hour nap then head to the flu clinic or B.) head straight to the flu clinic work 9a-530 or 630p make it back home depending on the drive by 730p nap back up around 9-915...back to work 10p-630a(Sunday morning) and do it all again...up until 2 weeks ago that was my life for a month in a half...now im not really doing the flu clinics but I still have the 3-8p and 10p-630a job. I work the 3-8p job Tues.-Fri and the other is parttime as well maybe 3 days a week and I am greatful they took a chance on me by giving me my first nursing job but Im just so tired most of the time. Like now Ive been off the 3rd shift job since I got off at 630a Wednes. and tomorrow which is Monday I go back to 3rd shift only for 2 days then Im off til Saturday...i know i just offered a lot of info but how do i get past the slump of dreading going back to work??? I love nursing but I just dont think nursing home nursing is for me should I just suck it up or should I start applying for other positions?? Im always thinking of relocating in March of 2012 so would it be best to work there as long as possible just to say I have atleast some exp.?

Honey, it isn't nursing homes, your are so overextended I'm surprised you can still stand. Find ONE job.

Yeah- and see if you can avoid the switching shifts.... most people don't like nights- BUT at least if you can get one shift, you can plan your life around a set schedule.
And get a good coffee pot :)

Honestly I'm with them.
You are just asking for a mistake to be made.
You can't possibly do a good job, SAFE job with so little sleep.
Find one job. Three or even two with those kind of hours is just too much.
Thank you guys for your helpful advice...@lifeofanurse not to sound snobby or over zealous but my nursing care is excellent...no matter how tired I am I can snap it together very well! I am now preparing for a big life change along with a big relocation...ive decided that once Ive moved I will slow it down to one job one set shift as well.
