Cruise Ship Nursing

Specializes in Emergency nursing.

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of working as a nurse on a cruise ship? I'm thinking of giving it a go for a while and want to hear some honest opinions from people who have done it. I've found a few sites for companys looking for nurses and they make it sound quite good...just not sure if all they say is true or just to get you to apply. Also was wondering if anyone knew roughly how much you get paid as a cruise ship nurse as not of the websites tell you this.

I realise this site is about emigrating but decided it was work a try posting on here.

Thanks

I've never done it personally but did work with someone who did for many years. From what she told me you had to do your own X-rays and bloods etc and you need to have you ALS too. I'm not sure how much it pays but I'm sure it's one of those jobs that will depend on previous experience and there will probably be room for negotiation.

I cruise often, the nurses I have met are mostly from the UK or Ireland. When I talked to them, it is either very busy or slow. If a patient requires 24 care they have to see that the patient is cover 24 hours. They did seem to enjoy the job and seemed very competent.
