CRNP - legal and professional certification

Published

Please inform me on how you as a CRNP, accomplished legal and professional certification. How did you prepare for the exam? Which exam did you take? How did you choose?

hello, rnc8331916 and welcome to allnurses.com

i see you have posed a question in this np forum. to whom are you referring? and, what specialty certification are you referring?

if you elaborate, i/we can answer your question more effectively.

I am directing this question to any CRNP, particularly Family Nurse Practitioners. I was wondering about certifications through ANCC vs AANP. I would like to know of experiences in studying for the exam and how a NP would choose which exam to take. Also, how do you maintain certification over the span of your career?

I see.

I was first OB/GYN NP and sat for the NCC certification examination. After obtaining the FNP, I sat for the ANCC cert. My preference.

As for which exam to take, I suppose that would be a personal choice for you. The ANCC is the exam I see most of the NPs taking after completion of their NP specialty track.

As for studying aids, here are some links to the ANCC website:

Certification is maintained through CEU specific for my multiple certs. I must have X many hours in the specialty fields for all three certs: OB/GYN, FNP and LNC. Most of the hours cannot overlap and be applied to the other specialty, with very few exceptions. I attend conferences, do online CEUs, at home self-study, hospital CE (weekly), many avenues.

Thank you, Siri. Does anyone else have any experiences with the examinations that would like to share?
