Hi everyone! I am an ICU RN who will be applying to CRNA schools next year. I have scheduled a time to shadow a CRNA to see what her work environment is like. I am trying to think ahead a little bit. I like to try different things and I think I would like to work in a hospital and float to different departments. Like one day I would like to do OB, the next day maybe GI, and cardiac etc. Are there any currently practicing CRNAs that do this or do you know of anyone that does this? Thanks for the help.
If I am understanding you correctly that is the way most CRNAs work. We may work in OB one day, GI another day, general OR another day etc. There is usually a dedicated group that works in open hearts.
Perfect! Thanks. That is exactly what I was looking for. Do cardiac teams work longer hours? Are there relief CRNAS for long cases? Do cardiac teams get compensated more? Sorry for all of the questions but I am very thankful for the info. All input is welcome!
A lot of things will vary by the hospital you work at.
