CRNA School Reimbursement

Hello Everyone-

I had a chat with a gal at work who worked in Denver, Rose center of Healthone. She was saying that they would put you thorough CRNA school (she didn't know under what terms) but I find this very suspicious. This brings me to the question...have you heard of any hospitals providing nurse anesthetist reimbursement? If so, what hospital and general "terms" go with the reimbursement? Nothing specific, I'm just mainly wondering if any organizations do this, and where they would be located. Thank you for your time. Take care

I can offer you my situation as an example. My employer has paid for my BSN education and will also pay for my graduate education. The terms are that the scholarship recipient will work 1 yr for every year that the employer pays. (They pay up to $6,000 for BSN education; I had to pay some out of pocket b/c mine was a bit more expensive). When I get accepted to grad school after (lets say) 2 yrs, then 2 yrs of my obligation to the employer will have been satisfied. The remaining 2 yrs will be deferred to the scholarship I will receive for graduate studies. Once I am finished with a masters degree, I can either work the 2 yrs left over from the BSN scholarship and 2 1/2 yrs from the graduate studies scholarship, OR I can pay it all back along with taxes and interest. I'll start working as a grad RN very soon in an ICU. Every 2 weeks my employer will take out the taxes from my paycheck that were accumulated from the scholarship. I've talked to friends who have also been recipients and have worked... they say that the tax withdraw is about $50/check. I'm very happy with my situation. I am not looking forward to paying taxes, but I am happy with my employer. The anesthesia services at this particular organization are great - the CRNAs are given a great deal of autonomy and I would have the opportunity to serve many different populations, i.e. open-heart/cardiovasc. surgery, high acuity peds cases, and L&D. Before I accepted the scholarship 3 yrs ago, I did some research on the organization's anesthesia services. I encourage you to do some research on this as well if you are interested in any particular employer. Many individuals on this BB have had bad experiences with employers buying them out, but there are good offers out there for your goals. If I can be of any more help, just ask. Good luck!!!

In my situation: I have signed with an anesthesia group that will provide me with a 25K stipend to get through school. Upon graduation, I have to work for the group at least two years.....for me, it is a perfect fit, since the group is where I wanted to work anyways! :p
