Hello everyone! I hope that I am doing this right (starting a new thread). I haven't ever been on a forum. I just recently finished Nursing school after 12 years as an intermediate paramedic. My desire is to go to CRNA school. Someone told me today that there was a CRNA school in Tulsa, OK. True? I can't find any reference to it on the web. Thanks.

I had met an RN with my travels in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was just accepted into a CRNA program in which he will spend his first 6 months in ( I think) Witchita Falls, Texas and then move back to Tulsa with his family to continue his education at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa. Hope this helps you a little with your question. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

I think what you were understanding was the Texas Christian University (TCU) program in Ft. Worth, TX. TCU has several different clinical sites, and one of those site is St. Francis in Tulsa, OK. I will be starting school at TCU in the fall and will be doing the St. Francis clinical rotation as well. One other benefit TCU has is that Tulsa has a distance learning option in which you can complete the second academic semester in Tulsa. What that means is that I will go to Ft. Worth for the first academic semester (Aug-Dec) and then essentially complete the rest of the schooling in Tulsa (the second academic semester and the rest of the clinical rotation). The program is 28 months long and with the exception of doing a month or two in Wichita Falls for hearts, most of the school is in Tulsa. We live in Norman, OK and are moving to Tulsa this fall. That was the big appeal about TCU. Two of my friends just finished in Dec 05 and said all went great. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot, Liz and Boomer. I had my suspicions that it was the TCU program that they were talking about. Now, Boomer, what suggestions do you have for me in regards to being accepted into the TCU program. Also, I have a BS in fire protection and safety engineering, but only an ADN; do you think that they are going to require me to complete a BSN or accept credit for the BS combined with my ADN. I personally don't know what the difference would be. BS+ADN = BSN? or not? Thanks again for your replies. And Good luck to you both.

The requirement include having a Bachelor of Science degree and being an RN with at least 1 year in critical care. BSN is not specifically required. Others include being a CCRN, having a good GRE score and GPAs, and an intelligent personal essay and interview. For more info: www.crna.tcu.edu
