I know that there have been tons of threads about CRNA shool and commuting, but I just wanted advice on my situation. Right now I am attending nursing school and will have my BSN in 2 semesters. My dream since I started college was to become a CRNA. Since I have started college, I have been dating my boyfriend of over 3 years. He is from a town near my hometown, and I moved 1 hour and 45 minutes away to get my BSN soon after we met. Just recently, he has recieved an offer for a 5 year apprenticeship that would be near our hometowns. Our plan has always been for me to finish my BSN, and then move back home to get in my critical care experience, then we would both move for me to complete my CRNA degree. However, this apprenticeship has put a huge bump in the road. He would be stuck in one location for 5 years, and then would most likely get hired on by the same company. This is a really good opportunity for him, and I am supportive. However, the nearest CRNA school would be an hour and a half away. We've agreed that we could possibly split the distance and commute, but is this realistic? Four years of living apart was hard enough and really stressed me out, so I really am not liking the idea of completely moving away for another 2 years. Are classes and clinicals too demanding to commute everyday? Should I go for my 2nd choice and do ACNP, which would still be the same commuting time, but less demanding?
The CRNA school that is closest is Lourdes College in Sylvania Ohio. Anybody currently attending there that could give advice would be helpful. Thanks :)
