CRNA Interview at Phase 2 facility questions

Hi,

This seems trivial but.......I have searched high / low for this answer....hopefully someone can help.

I am going to my phase 2 interview with the Directer of Anesthesia at Madigan on monday. What do I wear?

I am Army reserve (been to OBLC), do I wear my ACU's or Casal dress? Do I change into scrubs to "shadow a CRNA" there?

My recruiter doesn't know....he told me to call the director and ask, but I would rather not bother him. I am on "travel orders" and getting paid to go......

Also, did any other CRNA candidates (who have been accepted by NU) go to Boston for an interview? From the CRNA Anesthesia threads on another forum, it sounds like that is the norm? Anyone know how many slots are left to fill?

Anybody else transition from RC to AC in this process? I have heard it takes awhile....my packet is less than a year old.....I am hoping to be able to "re-use" the waivers, etc...

thanks,

c.

I would wear your Class A uniform. It is better to be a little over dressed and exceed expectations than be underdressed and fail to meet expectations. You should change into srubs there and shadow a CRNA there.

As far as I know Army canidates do not go to NU for interviews applying there is more of formality than anything else. Your school is at Ft Sam Houston and is run by the Army with very little interaction from NU as far as I know.

Keep in mind my experience is from my Army friends. I am going to USUHS so my experience is quite a bit different.

Hi WtBC,

Thank you for the info....I don't have Class A's yet, we weren't required to have them at OBLC (RC). I guess it will be business casual.

Did you have to interview with anyone else, other than your Phase 2 Director?

thank you

I only had to interview with head CRNA for the AF. I had also interviewed with the Army at one point also, and yes the only person I had to interview with was the CRNA director there also.

You might considering wearing your Class B's (if you have them) if you don't have your Class A's. You are technically on orders and you should report in uniform. I would expect you to show up in uniform if you were reserves on orders and coming in for an interview to come on AD. Depending on your timeline it would probably be a good idea to go to the nearest military uniform store and get your Class A/B.

You are so right. I do need to get my Class As or Bs......soon. Maybe I will do that when I am at Madigan. Not enough time before the interview (5 days)...no aafs store in Portland.

Thanks for the info and your posts on the "other CRNA forum" Too!!!

Hi olderthandirt,

Do you know if there are any more slots left for your class? When is the last board? My deployment might get cancel so i can startif it is not too late.

After all of my research I have decided to follow in your footsteps and go active duty air force then try to get a CRNA slot. I am in the process of getting my ICU identifier so I can be in the ICU when I come in. Thanks again for all the advice.
