critical thinking...

Can anyone tell me about this Excelsior critical thinking & nursing process course that just appeared in my course board? ( where the practice tests are listed)

Is this an additional class? I thought I was almost done......just have ls2 and ls3 left. UGH

any light that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated...

thanks,

jan

I cannot attest to the Excelsior critical thinking exam & nursing process course, but I took the critical thinking test that is required by all the nursing programs. I took it last night through ATI. I have never seen this type of exam but it is probably similar to a portion of the SAT exam. There are 40 questions to be taken in 40 minutes. There are nursing critical thinking books designed for this test. I suggest you consider getting one; it will help prepare you for the test

An example of a question is: J is taller than B; L is shorter than B, M is taller than L; then k is what: they will give you examples and you must think the question through and compare your answer to the what they give. They may give you some comparisons 11448800884411 and will give you variation in alphabet letters. Pick the right one. You may be asked what comes next: 1 10 30 60 70 90 120. They will give you a series of numbers and you pick what you feel is correct. I have similar questions on other tests so I am not giving anything away; that is why they remain in my mind.

Again, I have not taken the Excelsior test, but it probably is the same critical thinking test that all nursing students must take at the beginning of the 3rd semester and during the last semester. The two tests enable the institution to compare scores and see how you have progressed...as if this kind of test will actually reveal such info.
