Critical Care positions?

Hi All,

Does anyone have an idea of how to get a position in critical care? I am an RN with interest in moving into this area (need to stay in Massachusetts). Are there any possible critical care internships/training programs out there? Those programs I have seen so far are for new grads (which I am not). Virtually all my experience has been with acutely ill cardiac pts and pulmonary (vented) pts but that was over 5 years ago. From what I have heard most managers will feel that is no exp. at all. Any suggestions you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Too bad you're not out here in Western MA. Our hospital is expanding the unit from 16 to 24 beds and looking for new nurses...and they send you to 6 weeks of classes before you hit the floor for orientation.
