critical care experience

Published

I just want to verify that I am correct about something........

A friend of mine has her bs in biology and is telling me that is going to enroll in a program that will allow her to start anesthesia school once she gets her adn without her having any critical care experience. I have tried to tell her that I have never run across a program that does not require at least 1 year of critical care experience. Am I incorrect??

Your friend may be talking about the direct entry program at Northeastern University in Boston.... lots of "misunderstandings" on the part of potential students.

She may want to check the specifics again, because they do not offer entry without ICU experience.

For some reason lots of folks "misinterpret" the requirements for these direct entry programs and end up thinking they can bypass the year in critical care. This is an AANA requirement the program must adhere to maintain accreditation.
