Hello,
Please can anyone suggest to me a good place to take a Critical Care course in Toronto or surrounding areas. (does not have to be in the heart of Toronto) I checked UT and York I don't think they are offering it. I am new to Ontario, I am currently working in LTC facility for about 14months now and really want to go into Acute Care, which I love very much, but have not had luck yet.
I am seriously thinking of taking this course I believe would increase my chances of getting into the hospital, since it is very tough to get a hospital to hire and train a nurse with no experience in the ICU.
Please help.

I am not confident that taking the critical care course will improve your job prospects in an acute care hospital in the Toronto area, as most of the Toronto hospitals that have critical care units (UHN, St Mikes, Sunnybrook, etc) are unionized and the job openings are filled from within, by the most senior, qualified, applicant. Suggest you check into this further and do a cost benefit analysis before you invest time and money into the course.
