Crisis Response Teams

Published

I run an inpatent unit in a small general hospital. Part of our(the nurses) job is to carry a crisis pager and respond to all behavioral crises in house. I decided to research this role and found it to be very loose as to who is actually part of this team and what their responsibilities are. Im trying to make it a more structured process with designated members from different disciplines and a formal alogorhithm to follow. Do any of you guys have such a thing in your facility and if so how does it work?

If by behavioral crisis you mean a patient acting out then yes our hospital does this to an extent. Any time a behaviroal code is called anyone who has the training can respond. What I have found is that other floors will call a code for behaviors that we on the unit have happen on a daily basis or that they are not comfortable doing what we would do on the unit for the situation.
