Hello,
I am ready to begin practicing my wound station and I had a question or two:) One, is there enough room on the table to set your supplies in order of use?? If so, how did you set it up? I was thinking to the right, the tray of 4x4, then the 4x4 followed by the abd.pad. I can't decide where to put the sterile gloves since it opens out much larger and I don't want to contaminate the other supplies and I don't want to reach over the supplies.
Any help, ideas greatly appreciated :)

This is what im doing and yes there is enough space. Im right handed to all supplies on left and work out to in so you dont contaminate. Abd, 4x4, gauze, sterile gloves then a little space and wound. Above my sterile gloves i have the tape and saline. Trash can to right of me. Does this make sense?? I hope so!!
If youre a lefty do this but in opposite order.
I'm right handed as well. I have my wound at my left hand. so you have your wound closer to your left hand or right? also what type of 4x4, I have a 12 ply, is that what is likely to be used?? right now my brain is tired from careplans and reading the study guide and working on the wound. what is good way to pack teh wound, I mean, I saw someone mention parachute?? What is that exactly??

Right or left doesn't matter... Space is what matters
Cut yourself back to a 3-4 foot space to hold the wound and
all opened supplies 'cause that's all the space you get. You don't get a 6 or 8 foot table to do the wound on
I have my wound on my right. The items are all on my left in order of use so that when i open them i dont contaminate them since u cant cross over it. Tlo is right the table appears tobe about 3-4 ft long. My 4x4 is in a boat from the ec skills kit i bought. I also got some from where i work with premission. I like the parachute method and yes i think its what ec prefers. Id youtube it amd see a demonstration. Basically unfold a 4x4 and take the middle of it and hold it up at that point. Tjen pull each corner up to the original piece youpulled up. Do that for all four corners. Then u put it in the palm of the opposite hand and kinda shape it to what the wound looks like. Then holding the top pieces set it in... U only get one shot at setting it in. Then use the corners u pulled up to fill out where needed. Does this help??
Thank you so much. I am going to give it a try!! :)
No problem! Glad to help!!
:bugeyes:I couldn't do the parachutte method if my life depended on it... LOL!
