CPCU & preceptorship

Specializes in postpartum.

Hello,

I'm in my last semester of nursing school, and I'm doing my last clinical in the cardiac progressive care unit with a preceptor. I'm wondering if there are any specific things that I should brush up on before going back. My first day there was kind of overwhelming and I don't want to be a useless lump on the floor.

Any suggestions would really be helpful.

Thanks!

I would just brush up on the basic concepts of different situations...

CABG

Angioplasty

MI

CHF

HTN

Renal Insuf

COPD

Resp Failure

PD/HD

Basic Lab Abnormalities (K, Ca, Na, H/H, WBC, BUN/Creat, Gluc)

You can't learn everything, but these are the common situations... and it would be nice if you were vaguly familiar when then nurses are rapping off report...
