Cover letter critique

Published

Good evening all,

I recently graduated as an RN from an lpn to RN program. I am having trouble getting a job and was wondering if you could critique my cover letter. Thanks in advance.

Dear Hiring Manager,

It is was with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for a position as a registered nurse in the operating room. The mission to achieve excellence in patient care, education and research speaks to me personally. As a nurse I can think of no better place to work at that than a place that not only provides compassionate care to its’ patients, but also is the training ground for the state’s healthcare professionals. What also impressed me was the fact that the hospital has been ranked the No.1 hospital in state and in City for the past six years. As well as being ranked Americas Best Employers by Forbes. Needless to say, but I was excited to pass the NCLEX and apply to work at the hospital.

I have a year and half of experience working as a licensed practical nurse and have recently transitioned to providing patient centered care as a registered nurse. Working at a skilled nursing facility has given me the experience of working with a diverse patient population that includes young adults and geriatrics. I have also encountered many different cultures and have learned the unique customs of each. I pride myself in the care I provide and have assisted with reducing falls in our building by implementing frequent monitoring, low bed placement and bed alarms. Additionally, as a team we have been fortunate enough to be one of the few skilled nursing facilities without a covid-19 outbreak by following and enforcing strict PPE wear.

I am passionate in the care I provide as a nurse and hope to expand my current skill set as a registered nurse. I truly believe I have the abilities listed and would make a great addition to the hospital.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my application. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to further discussing this opportunity via zoom or socially distanced in person.

Warm regards,

RN
