County College of Morris (CCM) or (hopefully) Fall 2017 Montclair State University (MSU)

Published

I was currently accepted into the Spring 2017 night nursing program at CCM! My only problem is I don't like the fact that it is at night, and waiting for the daytime fall program will take too long. I have all my pre reqs done, micro will be done at the end of this semester. Montclair State University has opened a new nursing school for RN-BSN, but they are waiting to be approved for a BSN generic program hopefully starting Fall 2017. I am thinking of transferring to MSU for spring 2017 and taking more classes for my BSN until the program starts in the fall to apply and take the nursing classes. Is it risky to transfer without knowing if they will definitely have a BSN program? Should I stay at CCM and do the night classes? I have the anatomies done, intro to chem done, micro almost done, english, and some bachelors classes. If anyone that has gone through CCM night nursing program can please let me know of their experience, that would be great! :)

Hi there, It's okay, I'm surprised I am still getting notifications LOL. I actually stayed in the ccm night time program and graduated in January 2019 as an RN and then transferred into Montclair State University's RN to BSN program that same January 2019. Their program is hybrid and worked out great for me, I did part time school while I worked full time inpatient night shift as an RN. I graduated May 2021 from MSU with my BSN. I work for Atlantic health now in an outpatient position as an RN. Overall this way took a bit longer and it is a bit more competitive getting an RN job without your BSN, but I saved so much money and have no student debt. I think since COVID they are okay with you having a ADN/RN working in the hospital and getting your BSN within 5 years. Good luck to you and congratulations😊

Thank you so much! Honestly I have been scrambling since finding out Seton Hall will cost me an arm and a leg and didn't look further into ADN programs.

I really like CCM but the only thing worrying me is the fact that it's a waitlist style system where you aren't guaranteed admission into the clinical phase of the program, do you happen to know anybody who has recently graduated from CCM who I could speak to?

Thank you again, I hope all the best for you.
