Have you been offered positions at both? If so, you're wonder woman and major congratulations to you! If not, take the one that offers you a position. I don't mean for that to sound snarky at all; unfortunately, that's the job market right now. Most of us new grads can't be too picky about location, salary, benefits package, hours, etc--we're all new grads, so it's not like we have 30 years of clinical experience under our belts plus advanced degrees and publications (but we will in the future!). If you're offered an acute care inpatient nursing position at ANY hospital, especially one relatively close to home, grab it and run!
thanks northbay..
i have been offered for county..but still waiting for cedars since the open house is still this coming friday..but there's conflict of schedule with the cedar's open house..so..i guess im going for the sure offer..one less competition for everyone waiting on cedars..
Well it sounds like you're set then! County is a sure thing AND closer to home--what more could you ask for? :) I'm not too familiar with County's benefits/salary, but since most SoCal hospitals seem to be paying roughly the same wages (except for the few that are paying ~22/hr--that's just mean...) you probably won't gain/lose too much relative to Cedars!
Congratulations on getting a job! YIPPEE!

Congrats on the job offer at County! May I ask when you did your initial interview and when they contacted you? And if you had to call a million times or if anything specifically helped you to get hired? I know how hard it is to get hired there these days so I'm happy for you :]
In my opinion, you'd have new technology and all that jazz at cedars but with many ungrateful pts who feel like it's a hotel rather than a hospital. At county, you make do with what they have in terms of equipment and technology, but with less fortunate (aka poor/no insurance/homeless) pts who are more often than not grateful for you helping them.
(oh and what unit will you be working on?) lucky! :]
hi hellosandiego,
thank you..you're actually right..in county I will be serving the underserved and there I can be more resourceful and make do with whatever is available..I passed the eligibility last december 09..I never knew that they were hiring new grads until I volunteered..this is how I got the job!!! I got an interview with the NM and it took more than a month before they gave the offer and BTW, it it in the ED..
