COT graduation and Family

Does anyone have information regarding ideas of what I need to do for COT graduation regarding inviting family? When should my family fly down?? Should I book the flights now for the day before graduation?? Are there specific hotels they should stay at?? Will they need to rent a car from the airport there or are taxi's readily available?? Should I book the flights back for the late afternoon on the day of graduation?? There is a spouses orientation and an open house for families, is that on the day of graduation before the parade at 10am?? I tried to find more specific information about times and ideas but came up with nothing. If anyone could tell me what they did when their family came I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

The spouse's orientation and tour is the day before graduation (Thursday) which is also the same day as the Dining Out (if you have a dining out, you can have guests; typically the summer surge classes have a Dining In, which is military only).

Graduation is around 10 a.m. on the last Friday of COT. There are apparently a lot of taxis in Montgomery, and you can find hotels on hotels.com. The city is actually very small but spread out.

My family came down on Wednesday afternoon, just to make sure they were there in time.

Thanks so much!! There are so many questions and no where to find answers but it appears you are the queen of information and healer of anxiety, so thank you!!!

I would say to arrive the wednesday before graduation. They may or may not be able to see you that day, but they'd be there for the orientation on Thursday and the open house. Friday graduation is at 10am (have them bring water and dress comfortably!!!). Then you leave.

I didn't have family there. I would have liked it since I was a key part of the parade. But, I'm fine with it now that it was a whole 2 days ago!! I just arrived at Lackland and am ready to get moving on life.

As far as hotels, I would recommend the Embassy Suites. It was right off base and really nice. More pricey than the ones down the street though.

Good luck!!!
