Cost of RNFA programs (NIFA)

Next year I'll be ready to join a program. Through the research, I think that NIFA will be the best route for me, as there are no schools close to Texas. I have read in their testimonials that people say it is more expensive than most programs.

Anyone here go through NIFA? If so, please give me some info regarding pricing, as there isnt any on the site.

there has only been one nurse at my facility that went through nifa for rnfa and she is working towards getting the hours for the crnfa. she did not seem to have any problems.

i just want to point out some things for csts who are thinking about going through nifa for their program.

nifa was at one time an accredited program for cfa. for the past couple of years nifa has not been an accredited program for the association of surgical technologists (ast) www.ast.org for the certified first assistant (cfa) exam given by the national board of surgical technology and surgical assisting www.nbstsa.org the national surgical assisting association (nsaa) www.nsaa.net offers the certified surgical assistant (csa) exam in which one must be a graduate of a commission on accreditation of allied health education programs (caahep) surgical assisting program www.caahep.org or have completed programs at the rochester, mn mayo clinic training program or canton, oh aultman hospital training program. a cst can still take the nifa program but will not be eligible to sit for the exams by counting it as an accredited program.

nifa states in their literature that completion of their st program; one would be eligible to sit for the certification offered by the national assistant at surgery council http://www.nascouncil.org giving one the title of assistant in surgery certified (as-c).

if a cst wants to be licensed in ky, they not only do they have to be a cfa or a csa they also have to have graduated from a caahep program.

my point is for csts to check out the programs before taking them as it can be misleading for where you are and what you want.

I went through the NIFA RNFA program a couple of years ago. At that time cost was $6,570 for the course, books, and the week of diadatic in Las Vegas. I thought it was a good program, you do alot on your own and will get out of it what you put into it. I felt the week of hands on was great - but it was alot crammed into one week. The hospital I work for paid for me to get my RNFA, so that was great. Good Luck!!

I finished the NIFA program in 2001. Good learning experience, at the time they had payment plans. It was expensive for only 9 community college credits but having the training opened up doors for my career.
