I work for a State Psych. Facility that is transitioning to forensics. I am currently looking for some info on certification in corrections or forensic nursing.

The National Association of Correctional Nursing is currently working on a "Certified Correctional Nurse" Exam. I wrote them last month and they said it should be out next summer. If you sign up for their free membership, you're supposed to get a notification when the certification is available. Their web address is www.correctionalnursing.org
Good luck Christine.

I completed a Forensic Nursing Consultant program With Kaplan. A waste of $5000.00!!! It does nothing to further your career.

NCCHC Certification is the most widely held in the specialty (http://www.ncchc.org/CCHP/index.html). They are about to come out with a certification specific to registered nurses on a par with ANA specialty certifications called CCHP-RN - first seating will be at the April conference in Nashville.
There is a forensics certification but it is more focused on evidence gathering and legal issues which don't come into play as much in the corrections setting.

The link for their website is apparently no good. When I follow it I get redirected to a site for CNA jobs. When I put the name into a search engine the most relevant hits are on this board.
