CORI's what is taking so long?

Published

I got a job a month ago, and this facility is still waiting on my CORI. Feel like moving on to the next thing. I don't understand how it could take a month. Anyone else going through this?

There seems to be less nursing jobs out there every week. There was 0 in the paper this Sunday that I qualified for and maybe 2 in the past 2 weeks. My application at the local hospital has been sitting there on hold for two months. I don't understand it? Are they waiting for someone better? Geez. :bluecry1:

Cori's can take a few weeks, done after a job offer. What part of the job cycle is completed. Yes jobs are very tight.

Thanks. It hasn't taken this long before, but I did do travel nursing for over a year. Things are different and the economy has surely changed since then.

I agree census has been very low and I have seen nurses being sent home.

About CORI's what's taking so long? I was told that the state laid of half the department that handles them. Smart move huh? I've been waiting over three weeks myself. Nursing shortage ????????????? With facilities operating with about half the nursing staff jobs are scarce, at least in Western MA. As a result patients aren't getting the teaching, support and the care they need and deserve. I've viewed it from both sides and it's not good and safety is a great concern. How did it get this bad so fast?

I don't know. I thought I would look for another job, but I really want this one, because it is Private Duty. It will be 5 weeks this Thursday and I am running out of savings. I might try the Federal prison, and see how long their CORI's take. I did call the department and heard the automated message. "Due to a reduction in staff, it could take 15 business days to process CORIs." Well, it has been 20 business days for me. I feel bad for the place that hired me, they need nurses and have been looking for awhile.

Not to mention the hospital that I applied at had an orientation and well, I didn't go because my application has been on hold since June. I guess they are looking for someone better, but you know I have been a RN for 4 years, did Travel nursing to get experience, and came back when we were expecting. This is why I left in the first place, no one wanted to hire me. So I thought of my own strategy. I would go back to Travel, but I have a 4 month old and my husband is settled with his job. Stinks man.
