Cord blood banking

Published

Hi guys

I am a labor nurse pregnant with my first baby. I know that cord blood banking companies will give us discounts for banking with them. I was wondering if anyone could share the discount they recieved and the company they went with. I was told viacord is one of the few left giving medical discounts. Any ideas?

Have not heard anything ever about discounts. Sorry

I think donating the blood has kind of taken over as the popular choice. In all likelihood you will never need that blood and if you do it will probably still be there and no cost to you. Most providers around here (myself included) recommend against cord blood banking.

I would also look into the benefits of delayed cord clamping and if you are interested in that, make sure your provider knows how to do both. It is possible but does require more skill.

I've heard about a lot of different discounts, but I don't know which companies are offering medical cord blood banking discounts specifically for us. I do know Viacord often offers coupons of $100 or more off, though I'm still not sure where to get those. I think the best bet is to call the company and ask.

I just had a baby last April and I banked with CBR. I believe I paid $700 less than the normal price.
