In working on my care plan for a patient I've received magnesium lab values written in mg/dl. My lab values book includes ranges in mEq/L and I'm looking for a conversion factor.
So far I've seen sites that say I need to multiply the value by a factor of .4114 and then there are others that suggest I need to multiply it again by 2 in order to get the correct range. Does anyone have a link that can give me values in mg/dl from a credible source? Or a definitive conversion? The only one I've been able to find thus far is this
http://www.mtworld.com/tools_resources/lab_values.html
I'd like to be able to site a reference that isn't a .com site if possible. And if I calculate the values one way I end up with hypomagnesia but if I calculate it another I have a slightly high or significantly increased level of magnesium.
Can anyone help? I'd be most appreciative
