Continuing Education While On A Cruise

I want to know who has done this and how much of the total cost was able to be written off as a work expense or some kind of tax credit or write off. Please if you have done this before I want your real world input. Thank you for your time.

I was just informed that CEUs are offered on a cruise. My friends mom who is also an RN regularly acquires some of her mandatory CEUs onboard a cruise ship. Now I know this is expensive, it costs a thousand bucks just for the cruise and class/seminar. This isnt even factoring in cost of the flight or gas just to get to the port.

However, it is a great way to write off some of the expenses of going on vacation. I like my downtime especially my vacation time. I like going on cruises and exploring new places. I do NOT like paying for my fun and excitement. If there is a way I can off-set the cost of my trips, well I want to know how.

I am not interested in the actual CEUs. I just want to know how this whole "Seminar" thing works. I have been looking online and yes these type of CEU-Trips do exist. I want to better understand the financial side of it. What do I get to "write-off", how does this affect my taxes, etc.

As per the Terms of Service we cannot offer legal...nor tax...advice. This would best be answered by a tax accountant.
