Consider becoming an NP, but have no nursing background

Published

I want to become an NP, but I have a degree in an unrelated field. I was thinking of going to nursing school all the way up to masters. Will this be a bad idea as opposed to me becoming an RN first and working a few years in that capacity before getting a masters degree? I am not as interested in the RN work. Will it be possible to just start practicing as an NP right out of school?
