Please help I am so confused.

day 1: CXR shows RLL infiltrates indicating penumonia. WBC 4.9 (normal), Neutrophils 79.4 (high) no bands, Lymphocytes 6.9 (low), monocytes 11.0 (normal) eosinophils and basophils stay normal thoughout stay.

day: 3 CXR shows worsening infiltrates stating worsening pnuemonia. WBC 6.9 (normal), neutrophils 74.5 (decreased to normal) no bands, lympocytes 9.5 (elevated but still low) montocytes 12.2 (elevated to high)

day 4: DX chest 2 view shows increasing RLL infiltrate, small bilateral pleural effusions. WBC 5.4, neutrophils 69.8 lympocytes 11.1, monocytes 13.1.

day 5: cxr states improvemtn of fluid overload and sm effusions persist. WBC 5.0, neutrophils 67.5

lymphocytes 12.9, monocytes 14.6.

day 6: wbc 5.6, neutrophils 86.5, lymphocytes 8.3, monocytes 14.1 and esiophils droped from 4.6 (day 5) to 1.1 (day 6).

So I look at the chest xrays that say the pnumonia is getting worse, but the labs are on this rollercoaster:

WBC's stay within normal range - up then down then up.

Neutrophils are high go to normal then jump up.

lymphocytes start out low raise up then drop.

monocytes just keep increasing.

Could someone please expain this to me I don't see how it is getting better or worse with antibiotic therapy.

Thank you. :)
