I am in the midst of getting my application ready. Hoping that I can wow the committee with my letter, as my GPA is not as competitive as I would like.
Anyone else planning on applying for Fall?
Congrats to everyone that has been accepted!! Question to those that have completed or been accepted to the program- what kind of health care experience did you have before applying? I will start volunteering this month and take a CNA course this fall, but wondering if there is anything else I should/can be doing...besides of course the pre-req classes :) Thanks for your help!
hey SG12- I was just accepted and honestly i hardly had any formal health care experience. during the interview, they asked us about what kind of experience we had and i (as well as some of the other girls interviewing) talked a lot about informal health care experience, like taking care of a family member who spent a lot of time in hospitals, etc. I think they just want to see that you have leadership experience more than anything and that you're willing to take initiative. So, while formal health care experience might be helpful, my advice would be to work hard in your classes so your GPA is impressive, make sure you have great recommendations, and get involved in anything that will show them that you take initiative and can be given a load of responsibility.
