Honestly you are much better off just going for your RN. Its longer school wise, but will be 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of these private LVN schools. Most of the LVN's in our hospital network are being forced to bridge over which is 1.5 years + their 1 year of LVN school which puts them with even more school to get to the same spot

I am currently attending the LVN program at Concorde in Garden Grove,CA. I'm a third semester student set to graduate Jan 2012. The program costs around $32k. Yes, it is expensive, but I believe its worth the additional cost. I am 36 and changing careers after 14yrs, have two children and wanted a serious and profession education experience. I researched all the schools with great detail and after several visits to each campus and soliciting opinions from current students, I came to the conclusion that Concorde was the right choice for me. The program is tough, understandibly so, as it is nursing program. A few of our students are tranfers from other schools and from what they tell me I am even more confident about my decision to attend Concorde. I have had excellent instructors, all very knowledgable and each with 20-30yrs nursing experience. My clinical sites have been top notch and I'm learning so much at each location (new location each term). From what I gather from my inquiries with different RN's at several hospitals and nursing facilities, Concorde has an excellent reputation. I personally don't have 1-2 years to wait to be accepted into an RN program. The LVN bridge to RN is the route I am taking. Sure it's more expensive, but in the long run I will be working 1-3 years sooner than the Community College route (impacted programs have 1-2 year wait lists). The math was simple for me. Good Luck!

do you guys do oral presentations at concorde?
do you guys do oral presentations at concorde
Yes we do several oral presentations, being able to speak comfortably about health care is a large part of nursing care. You have to be able to teach your patients and their families about their condition. We usually have one or two oral presentations per semester. I don't mind the presentations, you get use to them.
Hope this helps.
:-) ps I'm not a public speaker either.
