Concerned New Grad

Hey All!

I guess I need to change my name right?? I am NO LONGER A STUDENT!!! WOO HOO! Okay, well anyways, I start in a large hospital, level III NICU in Columbus, OH in June. I have been reading some of the postings about how long it takes to feel comfortable and how many people feel discouraged at first. I guess I was just wondering if anyone had any advice to make the transition to becoming competent a more smooth one. I know that your relationship with your preceptor makes a big difference, so I will make sure to try my hardest for it to be a positive one. Any other words of wisdom?

Thanks!

I think there is a thread on this topic called "New Nurse Really Struggling"; some great advice there.

Congrats on the job and graduating, MUOStudentNurse!

I'm from the Akron, Ohio area. I will be graduating in August and hope to be getting a job in the NICU too. Just wanted to drop you a line and say congrats since you are a fellow Ohioan and will be working in the NICU.

Like ldh said, check the forums for some advice....I have none to give since I am still in school myself! Best of luck to you!
