Concept of anesthesia

I will be applying to anesthesia school and I'm stuck on writing a letter. I need to write about my concept of anesthesia, I need some help with this in what exactly this is asking and if there any input I would appreciate it very much

It's YOUR concept of anesthesia ...we can't help you...

I think the poster is just asking for help understanding the question, not asking for the answer.

I think the term "concept of anesthesia" is a little awkward. If I were to guess, I'd assume they are asking you to write about what anesthesia means to you and to the patient. I would talk about the different aspects of anesthesia and the goals of anesthesia from a patient perspective and also what your goals would be when providing anesthesia as a health care professional. Think about: Why do we have anesthesia? Why is it important? What do you want to accomplish when providing anesthesia and what does the patient hope for? If you think about the answers to these questions, you can get a feel for what the "concept" of anesthesia is.

When writing statements like these, there are no right or wrong answers. They aren't looking for a research paper with things you can look up on google or some scientific explanation of what anesthesia is. Typically they want to find out more about what YOU think about anesthesia, how it relates to other aspects of healthcare and how it affects our patients.

Prompts like this are intentionally vague. If you ask ten different people this question, you'll get ten different answers. They do this to get more of a feel for each person. It's not about being right but having something thoughtful and important to say.

That's just my two cents and how I perceived the question. Does that help?

Yes thank you so much for the input!!
