Hello this is my first post here.
I have a VT RN license and is thinking of endorsing it to CA BON as the rest of my family is there in CA.
My younger brother has been rejected in CA BON because of MS/OB concurrency issue. He applied in NY instead and is now working there as a Registered nurse after passing NCLEX.
Both of us graduated in the same school in the Philippines, so I'm assuming I will have the same problem should I go with the endorsement. I was wondering if it is possible for me to comply with the MS/OB concurrency issue in my alma mater in the Philippines before endorsing it to CA BON, since I don't have a file with them yet.
As I have read, CA BON requires applicants to comply in CA approved nursing schools after they rejected the applications, but does it apply for those who haven't applied yet?

Until you actually submit your application with the CA BRN, it's anyone's guess on whether you're deficient in just the MS/OB courses or may have also the issues of not meeting the A&P, Psych or other course as well as not limited to any insufficient clinical hours, unless you again know 100% for sure, you meet the minimum hours.
We have seen others here who graduated from the same exact school in the same exact year and took similar courses together and some were found have different results and not sure if it's because a CA BRN evaluator was more laxed than other or simply missed it.
With regards to the completing the deficient (if you know 101% for sure without submitting your transcripts to the CA BRN that it's ONLY the MS/OB that's required and nothing else), it will not work since you MUST have completed the MS/OB courses BEFORE the graduation date.
If anything, you will need in full writing from the CA BRN after your review's decision, if the CA BRN will accept any courses taken after the graduation if you plan to re-take in the Phils or it's total waste of not only your time and money but theirs too.
There was some limited discussion last year that the CHED, PRC and PNA were working on getting an "approved list" of PH colleges that declined PH applicants in CA to re-take the deficiencies back in the Phils, but it was not yet something that was guaranteed and approved by the CA BRN if that would be an agreement to satisfy the concurrency issues.
Although, there was 1-2 posters who stated here that they "knew" of a friend of a friend who was able to re-take the deficient courses in the Phils and got "approved" in CA. How true that is remains to be seen.
Knowing the CHED, PRC and PNA, they are probably doing what they are going to do even after knowing for many years of the concurrency problems to help solve the situation.....they are most likely going to hope that the CA BRN looks the other way and hope it blows over...which means the CHED, PRC and PNA plans to do "nothing". All talk, no action.
