Hello everyone!
I am new here and just finishing up my first semester of nursing. We are getting ready to start competency testing and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to practice at home and what kinds of things you used to practice with. I am forming a study group for this and want to be prepared.
Thanks Heather

what skills will they be testing you on??
bp cuff
stethoscope
alcohol wipes
gloves
tongue depressors
thermometer with sheaths
bandage scissors
skittles or m&m's for med administration practice. little cups/shot glasses
plain saline eye drops
wound care: bottle of water (fake saline), tweezers, gauze strips, qtips, tape, 4x4's, if you want to pretend packing a wound, an orange slightly dug out with irregular margins might work.
dishpan: washcloths, towels soap
adult brief
bed:sheets (2 sets, blankets, pillows)
transfer belt
i can't thing of anything to imitate ivpb, suctioning, etc.
Thanks for the help! I would have never thought of the orange wound!!
We are being tested on things like...
